    Low-Light Plants

Not every room has a bright window, and these plants are chosen for exactly that problem. Snake plants, ZZ plants, and cast-iron plants tolerate the shaded corners, hallways, and south-facing rooms where most foliage struggles. Low light means slow growth and slow-drying soil, so the main rule is to water less than you think — overwatering, not darkness, is what usually finishes off a low-light plant.
